(not the full interview, just a clip!)

The ringleader of the legendary Wu-Tang Clan, the RZA, came through Seattle last week and stopped by Sound Session for the second time (peep his first appearance here).  This time, we talked all about his brand new Bobby Digital album, Digi Snacks, and also reflected on the last Wu project (as seen in the video clip), 8 Diagrams.  We also discussed his work in Hollywood, his upcoming projects, discovering new talent, the Wu-Tang music vault, politics, and much more.  You can download the entire interview here:

Wack Lyric of the Day, 6-30-08

WB Frog

“Put you in a mansion/Somewhere in Wiscaaansin”
–T-Pain, “Can’t Believe It”

This has always been one of my pet peeves.  If you reeeeeally have to twist how a word is pronounced to make it rhyme, it doesn’t.  The only dude who pulls it off reasonably well is Wyclef, but that’s often questionable too.  This particular indiscretion by T-Pain just makes me cringe.  Peep for yourself, 31 seconds in:

Kanye West doesn’t care about wack people

This is why Barack doesn’t take any money from PAC’s or lobbyists.  Rather than be accountable to big business, he’ll be accountable to us.  Vote.

Coldplay – Lost (live on the Daily Show)

(you may have to wait a minute to get the Hulu player to load the clip)

My favorite song out right now.  Chris Martin’s voice sounds ridiculous live and the end result is fire.

MC’s…who’s gonna be the first one of y’all to jump on that bridge and record something?  It’s open, just loop it a little and kill it.

Unite For Change!

Posted in News, Politics on June 28th, 2008 by Hyphen

Yesterday, Barack and Hillary finally made their first campaign appearance together to help unite the party.  In the aptly named town of Unity, New Hampshire, they talked about the importance of coming together to make sure that Barack gets in the White House.  This election is simply too important to let any petty differences get between us.  It’s good to see that Clinton’s supporters are rallying behind Obama, and with everyone on the same page, we’re going to dominate come November.

Today is the day for those “Unite For Change” house parties I told y’all about last week.  Hopefully you’re attending one in your area (last minute Seattle people can email me to find one ASAP), but if not, you can still get involved.  We have about 4 months left and every little bit you can do helps immensely.  Even if that’s just talking to your friends and family to make sure everyone is informed and registered to vote, that’s great.  Let’s do this.

“Angie”

Posted in Sports on June 28th, 2008 by Hyphen

(ok, this guy ain’t human…)

Tried “Angie” for the first time tonight.  Pretty simple:

For time.  Complete all reps of each exercise before moving to the next.

100 pull ups
100 push ups
100 sit ups
100 squats

I got 26:16.  Those pull ups are brutal, they took half my time alone.  I need to learn how to kip.  I’ll shoot for 25 minutes next time.  Try this one.  It’s fun and all you need is a bar.

Kenna – Black Goodbye Ride

Kenna

I thought I had found all the bonus tracks from Kenna‘s last album, the brilliant Make Sure They See My Face, but I just came across this one.  This dude is one of the best artists doin it out there, so add this to your Kenna collection if you didn’t have it.  Oh, and turn this up loud:

The Game

“I’m sick of bl**jobs, b*tch leave me alone”
–The Game, “Dope Boys”

I’m sorry, what?  Blasphemy.  hahaha…anyway, another dope song from Game’s upcoming L.A.X. album.  This one features Travis Barker killin’ it on the drums.  Check it out:

And if you didn’t peep the studio version of Travis’ Busta Rhymes remix, do so.

Sample Vault – Curtis Mayfield

Touch The Sky Video

I was watching a movie last night (that I’m too embarrassed to name) that featured this Curtis Mayfield track numerous times, so I thought I’d post it up.  Definitely a classic from one of the greatest soul singers of all time.  Yeezy, in turn, created a modern day classic and introduced a whole bunch of y’all to Lupe at the same time.  Unfortunately for me, I made it my alarm ringtone for about a year.  Whenever I hear those horns, I have 5:30 AM wake up nightmares =/

Curtis Mayfield -“Move On Up”

But it’s so worth it.
