I’ve been trying to tell y’all about Chester French for a minute now, but if you’ve been sleeping, check out their appearance on OKPtv courtesy of GregTheDude and Tunji.  D.A. and Max talk about their background, their sound, and misrepresenting Inverse as “an instrumental hip-hop group” hahahah.  Not exactly, but he’s still learning.  Peep the clip and see why Pharrell signed these dudes immediately after hearing their demo.

The homegirl DJ Heat has been putting in work in DC for a minute, and she just released the third volume of her Mumbo Sauce mixtape series.  For those unaware, mumbo sauce is what they put on fried chicken out there in the other Washington.  While I can’t say I’ve tried it, I have sampled Heat’s mixes before and I recommend y’all check this one out for some of the dopest talent in the DMV area.  It features appearances by people like Wale, RAtheMC, Raheem DeVaughn, Thad Reid, XO, and more. Cop Death of Adam in stores now!

I don’t know if you heard, but some dude named Barack Obama is our 44th President.  Pretty crazy, huh?

With this being our first Sound Session since the historic election, you know we had to celebrate.  We kicked off the show with a nice set of tracks dedicated to Barack’s victory, including new joints from Jay-Z, Common, Brother Ali, Q-Tip, and 3 of XXL’s Incoming Freshmen Class, B.o.B., Charles Hamilton, and Asher Roth.  After getting our celebration out the way, we got back into some of the best music out right now from people like Kanye, Devin The Dude, Black Milk, Evidence, and more.  Good music + good times recapping the past week.  Listen to the very beginning to hear how J. Moore watched the election results with WHO?!?!?!?! How crazy is that?

We also had 88 Keys call in (again…peep the interview from June here) to talk about his Death of Adam project that drops today, so make sure you cop that and support G.O.O.D. music…yes pun.  Also, shout to J. Chyea.  Not only is Grynch the homey, but he’s one of the best artists we have here in the Pacific Northwest.  He recently linked up with the production crew of Two Good Men for this EP to tide y’all over until his next release.  If this is your first time hearing dude, download the EP featuring Tunji, Geologic (of Blue Scholars), and Thig Natural (of the Physics) at GetGrynch.com, and then go cop his last album, My Second Wind, either on his MySpace or at iTunes.  You won’t be disappointed.

New J-to-the-muah visuals for “Who Run This,” directed by Rik Cordero.  Jada should be coming through the studio tomorrow…anything y’all want me to ask him?

From a song perspective, this is miles better than Will’s “Yes We Can” video, but it may not be as inspirational.  That said, this ish is dope!  It’s catchy as hell and does a good job capturing the feelings we all felt on Tuesday night.  It’s crazy to think that everyone – college kids, celebrities, children, foreign governments, people in 3rd world countries, scholars, etc. – were all celebrating like this when we finally did it.

Now it’s up to us to fight and work hard for what we believe in.  Obama is merely the inspiration.  We are the movement.
