The long awaited video from Mack, Ryan, and Zia Mohajerjasbi for “WINGS” has finally been released and premiered today on XXL.  Yet another great look for some of my favorite artists and homies from Seattle.  Great job fellas!

While J. Moore repped Seattle to the fullest with Shabazz Palaces at the Pitchfork Festival in Chicago, I held down the SNSS fort with the intern, Young Nick (aka Beeba) back here in the 6.  Another week, another fun show full of great music.  This time, we highlighted work from folks like Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar, Don Trip, Purple HeArts, The Black Opera, Nikki Jean, The Weeknd, Tall Black Guy, and more.  Of course we also played the underground hero, Big K.R.I.T., who I got the honor of choppin’ it up with at our Summer Jam on Saturday.  Peace to his crew (Dutch, Wally, & Sant) and shout to the other homies we ran into, B.o.B, Playboy Tre, B. Honestly, I don’t know if I’ve ever watched one of these ESPN “My Wish” segments without tearing up.  This particular piece highlighting a young cancer patient named Brendan Galanaugh and his idol, Landon Donovan, was no different.  It would have been great without Donovan’s storybook ending to the day, but once he scored those goals, it was a wrap.  Good stuff.

The Brothers From Another are back home from their first year away from college and I really couldn’t be more impressed with the young homies for this one. Ah, reminds me of my days coming back to the 6 after spending the school year in Los Angeles.

Jhene took the crown from Cassie for my number 1 crush a while back and I’m happy to say she also wins that battle musically. Here’s her video for “Stranger” off sailing soul(s), which I’m hoping is only one of many.  Especially if we can get visuals for “Hoe” with Miguel and Gucci Mane that remotely resemble the artwork.  Yikes.

Side note: this song is obviously speaking about guys who always want the same thing, but as I’m going through #inboxmadness, I often think of this record.  I do not need you, rappers, yet I meet you every day!

Shout to the homey G for always giving me the heads up on good music from his hometown, Toronto.  Why is the T-Dot killing it so much these days?!

Any record using the classic Dilla “Let’s Ride” drums is always going to get my head nodding (shout to my guy Tunji too), and I so desperately need more of this grown, genuine, soulful music in my world.
