Our SNSS local song of the year a few years ago is now a smash hit on the international charts. Wow! Congrats to everyone involved, especially Mack, Ryan, and Jon Jon. This might end up being video of the year too!
New visuals for Frank’s “Lost,” compiled of footage from his travels over the last year or so. Photo credits to Cisco, Lexiou WesCudi, and the always amazing, Nabil.
New freshness from Thunderbird Gerard, a New York born producer/MC/singer who has been putting in work overseas. Really looking forward to hearing more from him, and thankfully, we won’t have to wait long. His debut EP, T.R.O.U.B.L.E., will be released online for free download on May 6th.
Recently, J. Moore and I got a chance to sit down with Diplo, Walshy Fire, and Jillionaire, collectively known as Major Lazer backstage at their Showbox SODO show in Seattle. The fellas were real cool and we chopped it up about their upcoming Free The Universe album and the Lazer Strikes Back series of EP’s they’re releasing leading up to the project. We also spoke about life on the road, including their favorite shows, US vs. international crowds, and what it’s like to perform at huge festivals like SXSW and Ultra. They told some stories about working on the new Snoop Lion album as well, including what it means when Snoop shows up to the studio without his Xbox.
Shout to Detooz Films on the filming and editing. And if you haven’t seen the crew’s new video for “Watch Out For This (Bumaye) with Busy Signal, The Flexican, and FS Green, peep the dopeness:
Never thought you’d see a Chris Breezy video on TAOD, huh? Well, think of this like a Michael Jackson song and video, since they clearly are “inspired” by the King, but I’m not mad one bit. From the song, to the dancing, to the car, to the lighting…everything about this is fresh. Now if only he could be a normal human being in real life, perhaps I could tolerate him…
When I first peeped Rocky’s album, I actually thought this song sounded mad out of place and it was kind of a jarring switch from the vibe of the whole project. That still might be the case to be honest, but on its own, this is my jaaaaaaam. I dunno about most dub-step x hip-hop records, but when they hit, they come out sounding RIGHT. This is one of those occasions.
Seattle people: we’ll be giving out 2 pairs of passes to meet ASAP Rocky at our April 3rd Studio 93 on this coming Sound Session. Tune in if you’re trying to get down with the Mob.
TiRon & Ayomari return with a video for their new record, “No Filter,” which we debuted on SNSS a few weeks ago. The Jason Madison directed video is another one of those clips that just makes you want to move to SoCal…
But if you happen to be in Seattle, fear not! TiRon & Ayomari (and Blu as well) will be rocking here on April 17th at Neumos. Be there.
I know a lot of folks have been weirded out the last few years, but I’m not giving up on Blu. Not when he can still rhyme like this! This is the first single off French producer, L’Orange’s, new project, The Mad Writer.
