88 Keys & Izza Kizza on Sound Session

Posted in Artists, Interviews, Sound Session on May 12th, 2009 by Hyphen

In case anyone glossed over the weekly wrap up for SNSS below, I thought I’d make a separate post with the audio for my interview with 88 Keys and Izza Kizza from Sunday Night.  Big shout to 88, Izza, Daniel, Drastic, and the whole crew for coming through…definitely some real cool folks and dope artists.  Special thanks to DJ Pheloneous for helping make it all happen too.  More details about the show in the last post.

Sound Session #206 (5-10-09)

Posted in Episodes, Sound Session on May 12th, 2009 by Hyphen

You know with Show #206 of SNSS, we had to make it a good one…Google “206” if you’re confused.

While J was holding it down it Phoenix at Sha Money XL’s One Stop Shop producer conference (“hardly home, but always reppin” – Drake), I was joined in the studio by 88 Keys & Izza Kizza before their show Sunday night at Nectar.  We chopped it up about Mother’s Day memories, Izza’s new Wizzard Of Iz mixtape, the debates 88 & Kanye had for The Death of Adam album, and more.  If one interview wasn’t enough, I also ran a snippet of a discussion I had with Louis Logic from a while back about his crazy new surf rock/hip-hop hybrid project, Spork Kills.

In addition to the special guests, the music this week was one of my favorite collections that we’ve played recently: new joints from Asher Roth, the Clipse, Eminem, Busta Rhymes, Drake, Eli Paperboy Reed & The True Loves, Raekwon, and many more.  Be sure to peep XV’s ode to the leaked pictures from Cassie & Rihanna (hello!) and one of the smoothest R&B songs we’ve played in a while, “This Thing Called Love” by the Northwest’s own Toni Hill.  Enjoy!

88 Keys ft. Kanye West – Stay Up (Viagra) (video)

Posted in Artists, Music Videos on March 17th, 2009 by Hyphen

is niiiiiiiiiiiiice”

88, ‘Ye, and the Decon fam just released the video for “Stay Up,” one of the dopest tracks of the past year in my opinion.  It would weird me out too much to rock that old dude makeup, but it looks like 88 and ‘Ye felt at home as Clifford and Rufus.  The first verse on this reminds me of when ‘Ye was just starting to get his mixtape buzz and spitting hilarious bars all over the place.  Great stuff.

If you missed either of 88’s appearances on Sound Session from last year, peep ’em here and here.

88 Keys – True Feelings (video)

Posted in Artists, Music Videos on November 16th, 2008 by Hyphen

You know any project put out by Decon is gonna have some nice visuals to go along with it, and 88’s new Death of Adam album is no different.  This has been owning my car deck for about a week straight now.  Check the recent interview I did with 88 and then go cop the album!

88 Keys on Sound Session…again!

Posted in Artists, Interviews, Sound Session on November 11th, 2008 by Hyphen

Death of Adam

^^poor Adam.

Even though we had 88 Keys call in to Sound Session a few months ago back in June (peep that interview here), with Death of Adam finally dropping today, we thought we’d remind y’all to cop it.  You can check the first interview for all sorts of information about the album and then check part two below.  This time around, Keys talked about what he wanted to do with DoA, how it affected his musical plans for the future, and even dispensed some important advice to men everywhere.  Check it out:

Sound Session #180 (11-9-08)

Posted in Artists, Episodes, Sound Session on November 11th, 2008 by Hyphen

SNSS

I don’t know if you heard, but some dude named Barack Obama is our 44th President.  Pretty crazy, huh?

With this being our first Sound Session since the historic election, you know we had to celebrate.  We kicked off the show with a nice set of tracks dedicated to Barack’s victory, including new joints from Jay-Z, Common, Brother Ali, Q-Tip, and 3 of XXL’s Incoming Freshmen Class, B.o.B., Charles Hamilton, and Asher Roth.  After getting our celebration out the way, we got back into some of the best music out right now from people like Kanye, Devin The Dude, Black Milk, Evidence, and more.  Good music + good times recapping the past week.  Listen to the very beginning to hear how J. Moore watched the election results with WHO?!?!?!?! How crazy is that?

We also had 88 Keys call in (again…peep the interview from June here) to talk about his Death of Adam project that drops today, so make sure you cop that and support G.O.O.D. music…yes pun.  Also, shout to J. Pinder for swinging by the studio to fill us in, pause, on his new mixtape, No New Taxes.  Pinder may have lost his campaign for President, but at least he’s still one of Seattle’s best.  Cop that for a buck at OnlyGP.com.

88 Keys ft. Dilated Peoples, Alchemist, & Aceyalone – Fresh Rhymes & Videotape (video)

Posted in Artists, Music Videos on October 2nd, 2008 by Hyphen

(had to embed the high quality version…those visuals are too crisp + I’m a sucker for the fish eye lens)

That might be the longest post title I’ve had.  Anyway, we’ve been playing this track on Sound Session recently and now the mighty Decon Media crew has come through with a video for it.  If you know anything about Decon, you know that nobody’s touching their multimedia work right now.  Seriously, top notch.  This clip is comprised of footage taken from the FRV tour (remember when I interviewed 88 Keys?) and it’ll be on a DVD/EP they’re dropping on the 14th.  Cop that!

Keys Cover

Chyea, one of the illest producers in the game, 88 Keys just dropped Adam’s Case Files: The Mixtape in preparation of his debut solo album, The Death of Adam. I interviewed Keys a few weeks ago for Sound Session (if you missed that, you can peep it here), and he mentioned the tape would be out there soon for people to download. Well, that time is now. Featuring appearances by Tanya Morgan, Guilty Simpson, Grafh, Big Sean, Mr. Bentley, Serius Jones, Izza Kizza, and Kid Cudi. Back cover (with tracklisting) and download link after the jump.
