Problem on Sound Session (video)

Problem traveled up the west coast from L.A. to Seattle and dropped by the KUBE 93 studios to chop it up with us for Sound Session on 9/10/14.

We discussed his background, how he originally started by producing on a PlayStation, how he started rapping for chicks, and how he developed arguably the best ad-lib in rap (WHAT!?!).Â After talking about his past, he spoke on his upcoming album, “Karma,” and Diamond Lane Music Group’s strategy to make it his biggest release yet.Â And as you might expect with a passionate LA native, the conversation ended with Problem explaining why Kobe is the greatest Laker of all time and who’s better, Kobe or MJ.

Kendrick Lamar ft. Drake – Poetic Justice (video)

Kendrick’s album was initially hailed as a potential classic and it continues to get better with age. I speculated that he had it in him back in this post for the “Tammy’s Song” video, and I think he’s pulled it off. Â good kid, m.a.a.d. city. Â 5 mics for me.

Kendrick Lamar on Sound Session (Interview #2)

Following up on his interview with J. Moore and I from our Summer Jam a few months ago, Kendrick stopped by theÂ Sound Session studios this past week while out in Seattle for a show.Â

We talked all about his new album,Â Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City, which drops tomorrow.Â He spoke on his approach to the record considering it’s not his first project but his first on a major label, how he wanted it to act as an introduction to the rest of his music, whether or not the label influenced him creatively, his favorite song on the album, and more.Â We also touched on his early days as a rapper, getting in front of a mic for the first time, how his Top Dawg Entertainment crew compares to the other cliques in the game, and some other random topics.

Nardwuar vs. Kendrick Lamar

Nardwuar hit a home run with all his hip-hop interviews at SXSW last year and this year was no different.Â Dude was everywhere.Â Here’s his clip with Kendrick Lamar, where K. Dot gives you a little insight into his history.Â Love the story about his dad driving him and his mom home from the hospital for the first time and blasting Big Daddy Kane because “he has to hear this.”Â Awesome.

Dot fan, perhaps you missed it.Â Kendrick absolutely spazzes on this record, though my favorite crazy ending to one of his songs is still this one.
