Slum Village – Actin’ Normal (video)

Well this came out of nowhere.  Peep this Dwele directed video for a brand new Slum Village song produced by Karriem Riggins.  Seems like there may have been more, but after Baatin’s untimely passing, perhaps the video and song were cut short to highlight Titus.  RIP.

Dwele – Live performance at the Temple Bar in LA

Some nice live footage of Dwele performing at the Temple Bar in LA about a month ago courtesy of my favorite titled blog, NerdWithSwag.  Although, as a fellow nerd, and one with ample swag, I’m afraid I gotta call an Inigo Montoya on their usage of “complacent” in the description: “I do not think it means what you think it means.” Definitely has negative connotations.

Um, but yeah, *ends nerd rant*.  Andwele Gardner runs through “Flapjacks” and “I Think I Love You” in apparently stifling heat.  Of all the people in the industry, Dwele might be the only artist I haven’t seen live yet that I really want to.

The Jello line rarely works man.  Dope album though.  Dwele’s really consistent, though I’ve heard complaints that he doesn’t stray out of his comfort zone enough.  I agree he could be more experimental and vary his sound, but then again, we just saw what happened when Musiq tried that.  I’ll take that signature Dwele sound all day if that’s what he’s comfortable with, even if there’s a wack lyric here and there…

Dwele – I’m Cheatin’ (Video) + Remix w/Slum Village

You just can’t go wrong with Dwele and Slum Village.  Every one of their collaborations has been dope, and this joint is no different.  T3 and (the rhyming god that is) Elzhi hop on Dwele’s new single, “I’m Cheatin’.”  I would have liked some longer verses, and perhaps a remixed beat…you know, like “remixes” were meant to be…but this is still the jam.
