SNSS

The Seahawks are Super Bowl champs and we talked all about it, continuing the celebration from the game late into the night on this episode of SNSS.  The entire city is still on a (natural, I swear) high 24 hours later, and I don’t see us coming down any time soon.  The parade on Wednesday is going to be incredible and being on air right after the game was an experience I’ll never forget.

Check out the show to hear a little bit of what it was like in the city last night, plus you can hear our homey iLL Chris join us as we ran through tracks from Mobb Deep, Schoolboy Q, Isaiah Rashad, Yelawolf, YG, OB Obrien, Fat Joe, Pharoahe Monch, Mar, and more.  Historic night.

Jason Sudeikis as Coach Lasso (NBC Sports Premier League Film)

Posted in Comedy, Sports, Videos on August 3rd, 2013 by Hyphen

Being a huge English Premier League fan, I have mixed feelings about NBC Sports acquiring the US TV rights starting this upcoming season. On one hand, at least it’s not at Fox, whose production value for FSC has always been abysmal, and being part of the NBC family should help increase the exposure to the US.  However, obviously I’d prefer the rights to be owned by my company, ESPN, plus I’m a little concerned this piece above will be representative of how they cover a foreign sports league.

Concerns aside, I LOL’d.

Sound Session #376 (8-26-12)

Posted in Episodes, Sound Session on August 28th, 2012 by Hyphen

With college and pro football about to kick off, things are getting pretty busy at the day job, so I’ll keep this quick.  I got that work.  Literally.

New music on this week’s SNSS from artists like Brother Ali, Lupe Fiasco, J. Bizness, The Black Opera, Rochelle Jordan, Beanie Sigel, State Property, GLC, Nitty Scott, MC, Roc Marciano, Torae, Khrysis, Method Man, Slaughterhouse, and more.

Plus, we were joined in studio by the filmmakers behind Husky Loyal, which is a great new documentary chronicling the final football game in the University of Washington’s Husky Stadium (before the massive renovation) and in a larger sense, what it means to be part of the Husky community.  Whether you’re directly affiliated with the University or not, and even if you aren’t a sports fan, everyone living in Seattle is greatly influenced by UW.  Check out the trailer here and then peep the soundtrack featuring Seattle producers Blue Sky Black Death, Justo (The Physics), Keyboard Kid, P-Smoov, Ryan Lewis, and OC Notes for a free download right here.

Enjoy the show!

Robin van Persie’s perfect volley against Everton (video)

Posted in Sports, Videos on December 22nd, 2011 by Hyphen

<a href='http://video.app.msn.com/?mkt=en-us&#038;vid=db9e62f7-b3ed-4e7f-a0e1-87021f4fd24b&#038;from=&#038;src=v5:embed::' target='_new' title='Van Persie&#39;s Glorious Goal' >Video: Van Persie&#39;s Glorious Goal</a>

I meant to post this soon after it happened, but better late than never…especially for those of you who don’t follow soccer and may have missed Robin van Persie’s game winning volley for Arsenal vs. Everton. You’ll notice that US National Team goalkeeper, Tim Howard, doesn’t even move, knowing that if RvP connected as he planned, he didn’t stand a chance. What a beautiful pass from Song too. Fabregas-esque.

ESPN’s Top 50 Players of the 2010 World Cup

Posted in Sports on March 2nd, 2010 by Hyphen

Fresh off the Winter Olympics, ESPN.com has jump started my anticipation for the world’s next big sporting event (March Madness isn’t quite international) by posting up their Top 50 Players of the 2010 World Cup.  Peep the article for a breakdown of each player, but here’s the list:

NO.     PLAYER
1     Lionel Messi, Argentina
2     Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal
3     Wayne Rooney, England
4     Kaka, Brazil
5     Xavi, Spain
6     Didier Drogba, Ivory Coast
7     Andres Iniesta, Spain
8     Fernando Torres, Spain
9     Steven Gerrard, England
10     Michael Essien, Ghana
11     David Villa, Spain
12     Franck Ribery, France
13     Samuel Eto’o, Cameroon
14     Luis Fabiano, Brazil
15     Iker Casillas, Spain
16     Cesc Fabregas, Spain
17     Gianluigi Buffon, Italy
18     Dani Alves, Brazil
19     Nemanja Vidic, Serbia
20     Wesley Sneijder, Netherlands
21     Maicon, Brazil
22     Frank Lampard, England
23     Andrea Pirlo, Italy
24     Carlos Tevez, Argentina
25     Robin van Persie, Netherlands
26     Gonzalo Higuain, Argentina
27     Diego Forlan, Uruguay
28     Thierry Henry, France
29     Sergio Aguero, Argentina
30     Michael Ballack, Germany
31     Julio Cesar, Brazil
32     Arjen Robben, Netherlands
33     Gerard Pique, Spain
34     Miroslav Klose, Germany
35     Lucio, Brazil
36     Javier Mascherano, Argentina
37     John Terry, England
38     David Silva, Spain
39     Carles Puyol, Spain
40     Nicolas Anelka, France
41     Ashley Cole, England
42     Patrice Evra, France
43     Marek Hamsik, Slovakia
44     Karim Benzema, France
45     Yoann Gourcuff, France
46     Daniele De Rossi, Italy
47     Philipp Lahm, Germany
48     Yaya Toure, Ivory Coast
49     Giorgio Chiellini, Italy
50     Landon Donovan, United States

I’m glad to see my favorite players (van Persie, Cesc, and Didier Drogba) all well represented, but overall, I think this list is surprisingly solid.  David Silva should definitely be higher and some of the bigger names aren’t as good as they used to be, but ESPN did a pretty good job.  What do you think?

Posted in Artists, Sports on August 23rd, 2008 by Hyphen

Pharrell

No, your eyes do not deceive you.  That is indeed Pharrell running on Manchester United‘s legendary Old Trafford pitch, attempting to abscond with last year’s Champion’s League trophy.  Hilarious hahahah.

N.E.R.D. with trophies

Skateboard and Shae stopped by MUFC while in Manchester for a show and they just posted pics on the BBC blog.  Err…not that BBC.  Check ’em out here.

Just when the Olympics end, the EPL season starts to pick up…chyea.
