The Audacity of Dope

Dope visuals from my favorite musicians in Seattle and the homeboy Jon Jon Augustavo on direction.  I believe this marks the 5th consecutive video shoot I’ve attended where I’ve successfully avoided appearing in the actual video.  Was a fun time though, shout to all the homies!

My favorite part of this whole Seattle movement is that everyone is legitimately down for each other. Every time someone in the scene drops a video, you see countless homies making cameos and showing support. We’re all going to look back on these days as special moments in Seattle’s music history. I hope this never stops.

While J. Moore is overseas holding it down with THEESatisfaction on their European tour, our trusty stand in DV-One co-hosted this week’s episode of SNSS.  We were also joined in studio by good friends Lace Cadence and Jon Augustavo so it goes without saying that good times were had by all.  Musically, you already know we had to run the two new Kanye records that took the web by storm last week, alongside other gems from artists like Killer Mike, Aloe Blacc, Wordsworth, Denzil Porter, Big K.R.I.T., Iron Solomon, Mikkey Halsted, Lupe Fiasco, and more.

New heat from two of my favorite homies in the biz: J. Pinder and Jon Augustavo.  It’s always inspiring to see folks you know make great moves and represent the city so lovely.  Pin is the newest member of the Hall of Justus too, so he’ll be doing more and more work with my Justus League folks.  What up Dho!

A certain Seattle DJ/blogger/all around cool guy might be featured in one of these in the near future…gasp.  From Jon Jon:

This is the first installment in a series I’ve entitled “Good Times.” The basic idea is to do more than just shoot music videos with hip-hop artists. I wanted to get a story out of them and keep it simple. For my first effort I linked up with Chicago area, DC-born rhymesayer Dave Coresh (no relation to infamous Waco man Dave Koresh). DC takes time out to drop a couple of freestyle snippets and explain his amazing teeth all whilst riding the L.

Dave Coresh is a dope MC for sure. Peep some samples here.

The homey Blaze teamed up with the other homey, Jon Augustavo, to whip up a video for “Wishing On A Dream” featuring Isabella du Graf.  While this one wasn’t shot up here in Seattle like the previous video I posted, or most of Jon Jon’s work, it looks great and it’s another example of the talent here in the 6.
