Killer Mike – Burn (video)

Posted in Artists, Music Videos, Politics on June 11th, 2011 by Hyphen

So apparently there was quite the hubbub (greatest word ever?) earlier this week when Lupe was quoted as calling President Obama a terrorist.  While I understand the shock value factor of grabbing that soundbite for the headline, people clearly missed the larger point that US foreign policy could certainly constitute terrorism for many folks in the world.  Killer Mike’s latest, PL3DGE, touches on similar subjects, especially here on “Burn.”  Go head fellas.

Pac Div, Knux, B.o.B, Charles Hamilton, Talib Kweli, Mistah F.A.B., Freeway, & Blu – Pepsi Mic Pass

Posted in Artists, Live Performances, Videos on May 19th, 2009 by Hyphen

Generally speaking, projects with this level of corporate organization/sponsorship turn out extra corny, but thanks to the talent assembled for the latest Pepsi Mic Pass video, this one came out dope.  All the live stuff was shot down in Austin at SXSW and you can see all sorts of folks in the background.  Town homies will recognize Dow Jones and Jake One especially…

Charles Hamilton, Donny Goines, Mistah F.A.B., & Shad x SXSW

I told y’all these cyphers were breaking out everywhere down in Austin.  This pretty much sums up the kind of vibe that SXSW carries…everyone was just down there having a good time and people were all about their music.  Fabby Davis Jr. murdered this by the way.

Glasses Malone & Mistah F.A.B. on Sound Session

Posted in Artists, Interviews, Sound Session on December 16th, 2008 by Hyphen

Glasses

As I mentioned in the last post, Glasses Malone and Mistah F.A.B., came through Sound Session this past week while in town for a concert.  We didn’t get to knock out one of our traditional “Inside the Actor’s Studio”-style interviews, where we could really go in depth, but it was fun regardless.  We talked a little about Glasses’ upcoming Beach Cruiser album, his background, how he got his name, and why F.A.B. enjoys keeping his fingernails finely manicured hahaha.  Check it out:

Sound Session #185 (12-14-08)

Posted in Episodes, Sound Session on December 15th, 2008 by Hyphen

SNSS

Here’s the Sound Session playlist and download links from Sunday night.  As usual, we had a ball playing the best new music around, plus we were joined in the studio by the homey Geologic from the Blue Scholars.  Along with laughing at our crazy callers, Geo was in the building to talk about the upcoming Blue Scholars and Common Market shows at the end of the week here in Seattle.  If you’re in the town, you better be coming through Neumo’s Thursday, Friday, and/or Saturday night to see two of our most talented groups tear it down like they always do.  Shout to the entire Massline family.

We also had a quick appearance from two of our Cali friends, Glasses Malone and Mistah F.A.B., who dropped in before performing at the Star Bar.  First off, you haven’t lived until you’ve heard these two cap on each other.  I wish y’all could have heard the off-air convo…hilarious.  Secondly, be on the lookout for Glasses’ major label debut, Beach Cruiser, coming in March of ’09.  Dude has been putting in work in the Cali underground for years so it’s good to see him on the verge of such big success.

Do what you do and peep the entire show below:
