88 Keys on Sound Session
Posted in Artists, Interviews, Sound Session, Videos on June 1st, 2008 by Hyphen88 Keys is one of the most criminally underrated producers of the last decade or so. He’s been responsible for classic joints from people like Mos Def, Talib Kweli, J-Live, Consequence, Truth Enola, Musiq, Scratch, Schoolz of Thought, and more. He also did a joint for Rawkus’ Hip-Hop For Respect EP, “A Tree Never Grown.” Basically, if you don’t know about him, you’re sleeping.
Keys is now back with his first solo project, The Death of Adam, dropping later this year. Before that, he’s releasing Adam’s Case Files: The Mixtape, which will be available starting tomorrow on the “Fresh Rhymes & Videotape” tour put on by the homies at Decon Media. All the leaked material sounds great, so be sure to look out for those two projects.
He called in to Sound Session this week to talk all about the concepts behind his new music, his collaborations, Kanye’s role as executive producer, the tour, his production techniques, and more. You can check the full interview right here:

Be sure to check out the “Fresh Rhymes & Videotape” tour when it stops by your town. Seattle people, we’re up first! And as a little bonus, here’s some footage of Keys and Just Blaze working on “Mistreat Her” off The Death of Adam.
