The Audacity of Dope

Damn, Robin went ahead and cast his wife, Paula Patton, in this video, completely sonning the rest of the industry. You win my friend, you win. Game, blouses.

Robin Thicke kinda has this lane on lock, but I’m not mad at this track from John West and Pusha T.  If you want a fun game, pretend that all of Pusha’s verses towards a girl are actually dedicated towards coke.  Sometimes they fit a little too well…

Just heard this on Sirius XM on my way home in the new whip and I was reminded at how much I love this record. Sexy and utterly hilarious at the same time. 1:52 – 2:16 FTMFW. #loftmusic

Everything about this record is [Charles Barkley] fantastic [/Chuck].  My personal highlights:

1. You can’t tell me Robin Thicke isn’t the hip-hop/R&B James Bond.  This dude staaaaaays with ridiculously hot girls (and pushes the interracial relationship boundary).  I approve.
2. “You got the hottest body/I got the hottest hottie/Lemme put some cream in your coffee” – hilarious.  I’m adding that to the vocabulary.  Ok maybe not.
3. Snoop’s verse is so epically bad, it’s incredible.  It’s not as bad/good as Kurupt’s classic “Xxxplosive” verse, but this is one of those all time “so wack, it’s dope” verses.  I love that when you think it’s over….nope!  He’s bizzack.

This is actually the kind of bright, positive vibe that I expected from the “Find Your Love” video.  Whoops.

Long story short: my PC caught a virus, the virus hacked this site, and then my Mac had issues all last week as well.  It’s taken me since then to finally get things back up and running, so apologies on the lack of updates for TAOD, but I think we might be back in business.  You’ll notice a slight redesign of the site too.  Looks a bit sleeker, eh?  “All black everything…”

Anyway, one of the few things keeping me sane throughout the madness has been Robin Thicke’s new album, Sex Therapy.  Despite some corny lyrics here and there, it’s a strong effort throughout and there are some really dope standouts.  Peep the video for the title track above, “produced” by Polow Da Don…not mad at this at all, especially @ the scene starting around 1:22. Hello.

Great pre-Valentine’s Day video from quite possibly the best male R&B singer out right now.  Who else is up there?  John Legend, definitely…Raheem and Dwele, yeah…who am I forgetting?  Either way, Robin is killing it these days by singing with more passion than virtually everyone else in his lane.

I bet this looks much doper in higher quality, but I didn’t really feel like waiting around for that.  The perfect summer track.  As a bonus, here’s the unofficial “remix” that Freeway dropped a verse on:
