The Kid Daytona & 6th Sense – The Making Of “Camelot” (video)

Posted in Artists, Live Performances, Other Peoples' Interviews, Videos on June 16th, 2011 by Hyphen

Big shout to Daytona for sending over the behind the scenes footage of him and 6th in the studio cooking up a record called “Camelot.”  I don’t think fans get to see these scenes enough, and certainly, nobody gets to see 6th’s beard enough. No word on where/when this song will be released, but I’m sure you’ll hear it on SNSS when it drops!

Meet Reflection Eternal This Saturday

Posted in Artists, Sound Session on May 23rd, 2010 by Hyphen

On Saturday, May 29th, Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek will be making the Seattle stop on their Revolutions Per Minute Tour at the Showbox Market.  We’ve been giving away tickets on the air through Sound Session, but now we’re extending a special offer to our loyal readers on The Audacity of Dope and KUBE93.com.

We’ll be interviewing the duo at 2pm on Saturday and if you would like to join us to meet and hang out with Reflection Eternal, email me – DJHyphen@gmail.com – these 3 things:

  1. Name Talib’s business partner for their label, Blacksmith Music.
  2. Name 3 guests from Reflection Eternal’s Train Of Thought album.
  3. Name the first video released from their new album, Revolutions Per Minute.

I’ll pick 2 winners and you’ll each be allowed to bring a guest to the interview.  It’s just that simple.  What are you waiting for?  Go!

Contest ends Thursday, May 27th, at 3pm Pacific Time.

Bored in the studio

Posted in Joints, Random Ish, Videos on February 16th, 2009 by Hyphen

This is what happens when nobody else is in the studio on SNSS and I’m bored as hell.  Plus, I needed a short video to practice editing with iMovie on the new MacBook Pro I recently added to the arsenal.  I’ll post up last night’s Sound Session later today, but as you can see, I was busy completely wasting my time.

And yeah, I need to get a little lower on the handstand push ups.  Freestanding would be nice too, but I’m not at that Jackie Chan Andrew Bueno level yet.  What up Dru!

Anyone know how to maintain the highest level of quality for Flip Cam movies edited through iMovie?  I converted the .avi to .mov through Quicktime so it would open in iMovie, then exported in what I thought was decent quality, but it looks pretty fuzzy.  Or should I man up and just edit the .avi’s directly in Final Cut Pro?  I need to get this U-N-I interview put together and posted up asap…

Kanye & GLC in the studio

Posted in Artists, Live Performances, Videos on September 25th, 2008 by Hyphen

I love studio footage, especially when it involves Kanye To The.  Paparazzi squabbles aside, ‘Ye’s life must be great.  He literally flies all around the world with his best friends, making dope music in amazing studios.  Sounds pretty good to me.  In related news, if you haven’t heard yet, 808’s and Heartbreak has been unofficially pushed up to November by Kanye himself.  We’ll see if Def Jam acquiesces.

Swiped from 2DopeBoyz, who also have the individual musical elements of Kanye’s “Love Lockdown” if you’re interested in remixing the track…

DJ Revolution shows you his studio

Posted in Artists, Live Performances, Videos on August 27th, 2008 by Hyphen

One of the all time greats, DJ Revolution, takes you on a quick tour of his home studio in the first promo video for his upcoming album, King of the Decks.  He also lays down a little freestyle scratch routine for y’all.  Hahah @ the soundproof bedroom.  I can dig it.

Apparently they will be releasing a video a week until the album drops on September 16th.  You lucky bastards down in Los Angeles should definitely hit up the release party on Sept. 19th at The Arena:  Rev, Jazzy Jeff, Dilated Peoples, Bishop Lamont, Strong Arm Steady, Pacific Division, & Crooked I all in one night?  Are you kidding me?
