Kam Moye ft. Neenah – Splitting Image (video)

Posted in Artists, Music Videos on March 13th, 2010 by Hyphen

From the Myx Music homies:

“The video was directed by Matt Koza of HOJ Media and also co-stars, Sudan Green (the son of famed spoken word poet Ursula Rucker) who plays the younger version of Kam in the video. The video documents Kam’s life story of becoming a father at 16 and shows the pressure he was facing at the time. By no means does this song/video condone teenage pregnancy. Its a way of showing younger people that your life isnt over when you make a bad decision. It just means you‘ve got to work twice as hard at your dreams. Hopefully someone will feel inspired by it. Enjoy!”

My recent foray into the home buying market makes me wonder how anyone could develop wealth when having a kid as a teenager.  More power to those who can still do it, but damn, talk about stacking the odds against you.

Kam Moye – Let’s Be Honest (video)

Posted in Artists, Music Videos on November 7th, 2009 by Hyphen

Here’s the first video from Supastition’s Kam Moye’s album, Splitting Image, out now on Myx Music Label.  There’s a lot to be said about being content with the little things in life and realizing that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.  I think you understand this more and more with every day that passes and at 27, I see this so much clearer than I did at, say, 22.

Grown folks hip-hop FTW.

Dan Johns – Hype Machine

Dan has been one of my favorite MC’s for a minute but I think faaaaar too many folks are still unaware of the talent this dude has.  If you’re a fan of cats who spit hard like Royce, Elzhi, Reks, Fashawn, etc., you’re gonna love Dan’s music.  Peep his newest project, Hype Machine, ASAP.

Supastition on the Wake Up Show

Posted in Artists, Live Performances, Videos on February 6th, 2009 by Hyphen

Supa came through the world famous Wake Up Show with Keelay & Zaire and blessed the mic with some verses.  Great stuff, but did Tech really not know who he was?  Yeesh.  Bad form from a legendary hip-hop dude, but at least Supa made sure he’ll remember him from now on.

Shout to the Myx Music fam who was in the building as well.

Supastition as Kam Moye – Black Enough? (video)

Posted in Artists, Music Videos on August 19th, 2008 by Hyphen

(that 3rd verse is fierce)

Speak on it Supa Kam. While I never want artists to be locked into a stereotype, I love when dope MC’s tackle serious issues like Supa did with his newest video for “Black Enough?” off the Self-Centered EP. If you’re sleeping on the Kam Moye project, read up and download it for free right here. It’s one of my favorite releases of the year and this is one of its standout tracks.

Over a dope beat from Eric G (206 like what!), Supa speaks on a controversial aspect of the institutional racism we have here in America. As a middle class white dude, I’ve obviously never had to confront this issue head on, but I’ve seen it play out in an ugly fashion on many ocassions. It’s even been a big talking point during Obama’s run for the White House, so whether you want to admit it or not, it’s still here in 2008. If there’s more educated discourse similar to this song, perhaps we can get things moving in the right direction.

Be sure to stay up to date on Supa and Reform School Music on his blog.

Kam Moye (Supastition) – Self-Centered EP

Posted in Artists, Joints on June 20th, 2008 by Hyphen

Self-Centered Front Cover

One of my favorite MC’s, Supastition, is back on the scene…kinda.  With this brand new EP, he shed his stage name to rock under his government, Kam Moye.  He gave an explanation of the project on his ArtOfRhyme blog, but he also sums it up perfectly on the first track, “Where & Why.”  Supa Kam kills every single track here, and the production is equally crazy.  He’s even got one of our illest Seattle producers, Eric G, on a few tracks.  I can’t recommend this enough.  Back cover and download link below…check this out immediately!
