1982 (Statik Selektah & Termanology) – Lights Down (video)

Posted in Artists, Music Videos on October 6th, 2012 by Hyphen

Statik & Term take us out to Tokyo with the video for my favorite record off their second collaborative album, 2012.  Anytime you start a video with a shot of that intersection used in one of my favorite movies of all time, Lost In Translation, I’m probably going to love the cinematography.  My only wish would have been to get Big K.R.I.T. in the video and use his verse from the remix.  Still dope though.

1982 (Statik Selektah & Termanology) – Up Every Night (video)

Posted in Artists, Music Videos on April 29th, 2012 by Hyphen

Statik might be the hardest working cat in the biz right now and even more amazing, he’s ridiculously consistent with pumping out good music. This time around, he’s back with his 1982 co-star, Termanology, for the newest single from their second album, due out May 22nd.

Court Dunn – Director’s Reel

Posted in Music Videos on July 15th, 2009 by Hyphen

The homey Court Dunn is steadily becoming one of the top directors in independent hip-hop, and the way he’s going, he’ll soon be knocking out clips for some major label artists as well.  I’ve highlighted some of his work on TAOD before, but in case you’ve been sleeping, check out this reel to see some highlights (and hear a crazy beat from Apple Juice Kid as the soundtrack).

Featuring Styles P, B.o.B, Camp Lo, Edo.G, Termanology, Donny Goines, Emilio Rojas, J The S, Silent Knight, Quite Nyce & SEEK

Director Court Dunn has become a prolific force behind the NYC hip-hop scene over the past year-and-a-half, releasing 27 music videos and countless other freelance projects.  A frequent collaborator with Vimby.com, he has worked with such artists as Jim Jones, Clipse, Styles P, Camp Lo, B.o.B, Idle Warship, Termanology, Tanya Morgan, Edo.G, etc. and is known for his frequent collaboration with Same Plate artists Emilio Rojas, Donny Goines and J The S.

Specializing in creativity over resources with minimalist sensibilities, Court’s accolades to date include videos on MTV Tres and MTVU (Winner “The Freshmen), a feature film in MovieMaker Magazine (“Future of Filmmaking” issue) and 2 Exclusive Video Series on major hip-hop sites HipHopDX.com and Nahright.com.

Termanology – Circulate (100 Bars) (video)

Posted in Artists, Music Videos on February 12th, 2009 by Hyphen

The second of director Court Dunn’s 4 part series on the elements of hip-hop highlights the graff writers and also acts as the video for Termanology’s “Circulate (100 Bars)” joint off his Dilla tribute tape, If Heaven Was A Mile Away.  Watch the first one with Camp Lo and the breakers right here if you missed it.  Term rips this apart.

Shout to Termy Term, Court, Dan, and the whole ST click.

Evidence – The Far Left (video) & The Layover Mixtape

Posted in Artists, Mixtapes, Music Videos on November 6th, 2008 by Hyphen

I just spent last night chilling with the homies Evidence and Alchemist during the Seattle stop of the “Still High” tour with Method Man, Redman, and Termanology (what up Term & Dan!).  We recorded a dope interview where they both broke down all the various projects their working on, but it may take a minute for me to toss that up online.  In the meantime, peep the new video for “The Far Left” featuring Al and Fashawn from Ev’s Layover EP , dropping on Nov. 25th.  Ev said they’ll be releasing videos for 7 of the 9 tracks on there, and so far we’re on #2 (if you missed #1, peep “The Layover”).  Fashawn will also be dropping visuals for his “Our Way” joint with Ev verrrrrrrry soon too.

Also, to tide you over, check out The Layover Mixtape that Ev put together with DJ Skee.  Guests include Defari, Chace Infinite, Fashawn, U-N-I, Big Pooh, Aloe Blacc, Theo, Crooked I, Strong Arm Steady, Bishop Lamont, Casual, Alchemist, and more.

Termanology on Sound Session

Posted in Artists, Interviews, Sound Session on October 4th, 2008 by Hyphen

Term

Fresh off the release of his official debut album, Termanology called into Sound Session this week to talk all about Politics As Usual.  If you missed my first interview with Term from a few years ago, hopefully you’ve waken up since then and have been following his career.  He’s killed it for years through his mixtapes and guest appearances (particularly on Statik Selektah’s projects) and now he’s dropped a great joint of his own.  Politics As Usual features guest spots from Prodigy, Bun B, Freeway, Sheek, and Lil’ Fame (of M.O.P.) and production from…get ready…DJ Premier, Hi-Tek, Alchemist, Pete Rock, Havoc, Buckwild, Nottz, Easy Mo Bee, and Large Professor.  Wow.

In this interview, we talked about what it’s like working with those legendary figures, the influence Big Pun had on his style, his upcoming projects, his tour plans with Method Man & Redman, and, as usual, politics.  Check it out:

Be sure to cop Politics As Usual in stores now and catch Term, Red, & Meth on the “Stay High” tour coming to a town near you this winter.  Seattle people: the tour swings through Bellingham at Western Washington University on Nov. 2nd and then in the city at Showbox Sodo on Nov. 5th.  See you there.

Termanology ft. Bun B – How We Rock (video)

Posted in Artists, Music Videos on September 10th, 2008 by Hyphen

New visuals for the lead single from Term’s upcoming Politics As Usual album featuring Bun B and DJ Premier.  I’m not sure what that little digital/touch turntable contraption was, but that thing looked dope as hell.  Not so dope?  The contortionists at the end.  That was slightly offputting.  Good stuff regardless, be on the lookout for Term’s new mixtape, 50 Bodies 2, dropping soon on TermanologyMusic.com.

Termanology – Politics As Usual (EPK)

Posted in Artists, Videos on August 26th, 2008 by Hyphen

I’ve been a big Termanology fan since before Sound Session even started and if you’ve listened over the years, you’ve heard us play a whole bunch of his joints. Finally, it’s almost time for his debut LP, Politics As Usual, to drop and here’s the EPK to help get the word out. The project features appearances by Prodigy, Bun B, Sheek, Freeway, Lil’ Fame, and more, plus production by an all-star cast including DJ Premier, Hi-Tek, Alchemist, Pete Rock, Havoc, Buckwild, Nottz, Easy Mo Bee, and Large Professor. I mean, damn. All y’all complaining that the east coast fell off need to slap yourselves and cop Term’s album on September 30th.
