Yes y’all, Bumbershoot Festival is finally here and it’s all set up to be a big weekend at the Seattle Center. Come through the Fisher Green Stage (the big one right in the middle near the fountain) at 5:45pm on Saturday to see U-N-I, featuring yours truly on the 1’s and 2’s, though I’d recommend getting there early at 4pm to see Mayer Hawthorne too. De La Soul will be on that same stage at 9:30pm as well.
I’ll also be helping introduce the homies the Knux and the Black Eyed Peas on the main stage Monday, but to check out the full line up, click here.
ahahahahahaah aw man, look at the homies Krispy and Al! The Knux made one of the least diverse crowds I’ve ever seen go absolutely crazy at the Bonnaroo Festival in Tennessee this weekend. LOL @ the irony of ending with Dead Prez’ “Hip-Hop”…I love it.
Seattle people: Be sure to come check out the Knux at Bumbershoot this year, where they’ll be opening up for the Black Eyed Peas on the mainstage. Shout to Krispy, Al, Josh, and the whole crew. See y’all soon fellas.
As I mentioned in the post for the most recent Sound Session, Krispy and Al from the Knux came through the studio to kick it and co-host last night’s show. We talked about their next album, upcoming tour plans, an all-star remix to their “F!re” track that’s in the works, the Twitter phenomenon, and more. Plus, they even kicked a quick freestyle live over the air.
You can watch part of the interview above (including the freestyle) and/or download the audio below:
On a week where J. Moore was holding it down for us with Jake One in Minnesota at the Rhymesayers’ Soundset concert, I was expecting to run through a normal episode of SNSS solo. Turns out, I forgot that the long holiday weekend also meant that the yearly Sasquatch Festival was taking place down at the Gorge and the homies The Knux were in town early for their Monday performance. Krispy Kream and Rah Almillio dropped through the studio to kick it and co-host with me, and we talked about their next album, upcoming tour plans, an all-star remix for their “F!re” track that’s in the works, the Twitter phenomenon, and more. Plus, they even ripped a quick freestyle live over the air.
You can peep the interview and full show below…video of the freestyle coming soon. In case you missed their first appearance on SNSS, click here.

More dope ish that was released during the SXSW madness. I ran into Krispy and Al down in Texas and despite obviously doing a lot of partying, they remembered their appearance on Sound Session from a while back. Good times. This is the jam though.
Tunji and GregTheDude linked up with one of my favorite groups out right now, the Knux, down at USC for this OkayplayerTV piece. In case you’re sleeping, you need to peep the Knux’s Remind Me In 3 Days album…one of the illest projects of last year.
As I mentioned in my last post, brothers Krispy Kream and Rah Almillio, collectively known as The Knux, came through Sound Session a few days ago. Not only are these dudes cool as hell, but they’re dope lyricists and great musicians who play all the instruments in their songs. How many other groups are doing that?
We chopped it up about a variety of topics, including their upcoming Remind Me In 3 Days album (y’all aren’t ready), their transition from New Orleans to Los Angeles after Hurricane Katrina, the unique sound behind their “Bang! Bang!” single, and more. To grab just the audio (including the two songs we played, “Bang! Bang!” and “Cappuccino (Remix)”), hit either of the links below. Otherwise, watch the video above, but be sure to click here to watch it in glorious HD.
Special shout to my man Brian (and Greg The Dude visiting from L.A.), who handled all the filming and editing. Brian will be helping us out on a bunch of projects moving forward, so be on the lookout for more SNSS in HD. You know how we do.
Oh, and a special note that the new homey Krispy wanted me to pass along: those 3 Knux tracks that leaked recently (“Amazing,” “Hard Days Night,” and “Otherside”) are real old and not on the album. However, you can peep the official sampler right here. Cop Remind Me In 3 Days on October 28th!
Well it took a day longer to have the latest edition of Sound Session ready for y’all, but you’ll see why in my next post. Before all that, peep the show info. We ran an eclectic mix of joints, ranging from Black Milk to Janelle Monae to Kardinal Offishall, and debuted brand new tracks from Royce The 5’9″, Heltah Skeltah, Lupe Fiasco, Murs, and more. We also had one of Seattle’s dopest MC’s, Rik Rude, come through for a quick update on what he’s been working on (Fresh Espresso with the homey P-Smoov). Lastly, rising stars The Knux came up from Los Angeles to chop it up about their upcoming Remind Me In 3 Days album. If you haven’t heard of Krispy Kream and Rah Almillio, you’ll will real soon. These dudes are dope.

This is my ish right now. Here’s the new video for The KnuX‘s “Bang Bang” off their upcoming debut, Remind Me In 3 Days. In case you can’t tell, it’s inspired by The Outsiders and “Beat It.” Krispy and Al are scheduled to be in studio with us live on Sound Session this week. Anything y’all want me to ask ’em?
