SNSS

Quick update with last week’s episode of SNSS before I hop on a plane and head to NYC for the week.  Heading back to the States after 8 months in London has me feeling like Eddie in Coming To America.  Just hope I get a friendly reception when I recreate the balcony scene in the morning.

NYC homies – I’m there until Friday, hit me up!

Check out this week’s show to hear new tracks from 3 of our favorite Northwest artists, Dave B, John Crown, and Brothers From Another, plus a special old school Seattle throwback in honor of the Museum Of History & Industry opening “The Legacy Of Seattle Hip-Hop” exhibit downtown.  More details here.

Alongside our local talent, we showcased new records from BROCKHAMPTON, Bryson Tiller, Guilty Simpson, Mac Miller, Russ, Big Pooh & Nottz, Travis Scott, Toro y Moi, Redman, Method Man, MF Doom, Ghostface Killah, Roman GianArthur, Gary Clark Jr., Elhae, Rationale, Abhi//Dijon, and more.  Great music throughout the night, enjoy!

J. Pinder – Careless Redux (mixtape)

Posted in Artists, Mixtapes on November 29th, 2012 by Hyphen

Yee!  New freshness from my guy Pinder.  TAOD and SNSS fam already know the deal, but if you’re sleeping:

After years of living, months of creating, weeks of preparation and sweeping Internet anticipation, J. Pinder’s “Careless Redux” is finally available for free download. Presented by DJ Skee—of KIIS-LA and Sirius XM fame—the 16 track mixtape is an impressively technical yet emotionally raw journey into the Seattle native’s comings and goings: through the club, through the industry, and through his city. Featuring vocal appearances by Musiq Soulchild, Marsha Ambrosius, Rapper Big Pooh, and Thurz, “Careless Redux” weaves together a wide range of beats from some of the best producers in the game: Vitamin D, DJ Khalil, Kuddie Fresh and Illmind.

Full of rewind-worthy moments, “Careless Redux” has a mood and a mission for every listener. Producers Mel & D and DJ Khalil collaborate with J. Pinder for “King,” an instant head-nodder that begs for a special sort of ride in the whip. On “Float’n,” J. Pinder rises to the occasion of Kuddie Fresh’s heartfelt strings and heartbeat drums, delivering a meditation on hard days and harder work. J. Pinder depicts his world with sharp story telling, polished mic skills and playful punchlines, transforming his world into everyone’s world.

The Physics – These Moments (video)

Posted in Artists, Music Videos on August 20th, 2011 by Hyphen

“If you don’t see me, I’m gone/
Might be in the wind on my own/
And if I’m movin’ too fast/
It’s cause these moments won’t last”

I’m pretty ashamed that the video for The Physics’ “These Moments” has been out for weeks and I haven’t tossed it on TAOD yet.  Better late than never though!

If you aren’t up on the Physics, clearly you don’t come here often or listen to SNSS.  These guys make my favorite music from the Northwest and their new album, Love Is A Business, is yet another testament to their abilities.  Get familiar with all their music here and STOP SLEEPING.

Here’s another taste of one of my favorite tracks on LIAB:

J. Pinder – Three Words (video)

Posted in Artists, Music Videos on August 11th, 2010 by Hyphen

Back to back dope videos from the town, this one courtesy of J. Pinder.  Jon Augustavo did a great job directing this video (as always), but what I really want to know is…what condo did they shoot in?  I’ve been looking at some similar spots and I’m kinda obsessed with the house hunting.  So far, nothing’s touching this spot though.

Ghostface x Frank Dukes x Red Bull Big Tune

Posted in Art, Other Peoples' Interviews, Videos on August 7th, 2010 by Hyphen

Just like C-Sick last year, the winner of the last Red Bull Big Tune beat battle got to choose a legendary MC to get in the studio with and Frank Dukes chose Ghostface.  I heard some hilarious stories about this trip to L.A. from behind the scenes, but peep the beginning of part 2 for a brief example.  Ghost is crazy.
